Ty Gobaith

£150,000 renovation and extension at a children’s hospice in North Wales. Brenig donated time, skills and materials, replacing decking and railings and adding a new lounge for young adults.

About This Development

Ty Gobaith in Conwy offers respite and end-of-life care to terminally ill local children and their families, as well as bereavement support to anyone whose child has died.

Tŷ Gobaith opened its doors in 2004, supporting terminally ill children and their families in North Wales, as part of the charity Hope House. By 2019, aspects of the facility needed updating to help the centre maintain its quality of care and to reflect the upper age limit increasing from 18 to 25.

How We Helped:

Brenig took part in a huge effort from local businesses and the community around Tŷ Gobaith to get the project completed in four weeks to avoid disruption to its crucial services. We were proud to be able to offer £50,000 worth of our time and materials to get the job done on time and within budget, alongside donations and fundraising by staff, families and local businesses.

The Impact & Results:

We replaced 250m2 of wooden decking with a durable, weatherproof surface, as well as adding glass railings, which enables everyone to benefit from the beautiful views from the terrace. After speaking to some of the children at Tŷ Gobaith, we also kitted-out a sensory room with voice-activated door, TV, lights and blinds, to give back some independence.
