Ty Gobaith in Conwy offers respite and end-of-life care to terminally ill local children and their families, as well as bereavement support to anyone whose child has died. We donated £50,000 worth of time, skills and materials to their £150,000 transformation project to update older facilities and add much-needed new ones. We completed the project in just 4 weeks as they hospice needed to offer its services again as quickly as possible.
The project included replacing 250 square meters of rotted decking which spanned the whole back section of the hospice. This new outside space is accessible from the communal areas and bedrooms and boasts exceptional estuary views. Additionally, the children in wheelchairs are now able to soak up the views due to the new glass railings.
A new lounge for the young adults has been added as Ty Gobaith welcome people up to 25 years of age. This new space has the latest technology, including voice activated doors, TV and lights. This will provide independence for the young adults using their vital services. The final improvement involved creating a self-contained suite with its own garden and private access out of the already existing Snowflake Room. This special chilled room is a place where anyone who passes away under the age of 25 can stay while their family and friends say goodbye in their own time, supported by the hospice team.
