Bryn Eglwys

£1.3 million planned maintenance contract with Cartrefi Conwy to improve thermal performance and brighten up the appearance of flats at the Bryn Eglwys estate in Rhos on Sea.

About This Development

External environmental improvements to 9 apartment blocks. Upgrading the thermal properties of the existing apartments following issues with penetrating damp and poor thermal properties.

Client:

Cartrefi Conwy

Sector:

Housing Associations

Location:

Rhos-on-Sea, N. Wales

Service:

Planned Maintenance

How We Helped:

We used ‘brick-slip’ external wall insulation from Weber to improve the energy efficiency and aesthetic of the buildings. We also improved the pathways around the site and replaced external stairways and fire exits. Due to the external cladding, we had to extend boiler flues, which meant arranging access to every flat to carry out the work.

The Impact & Results:

Residents chose the outside colour scheme after a large-scale consultation, which allowed people to get involved with the process. The new external wall insulation is in line with current standards for safety. It will help tenants feel warmer, save them money on fuel bills and cure the historical issues with penetrating damp.
